Skyrim Quest: A Night to Remember

April 16, 2015 - Skyrim / Video Games

When you reach level 14, you will meet Sam Guevenne in a inn, usually the first inn you enter after reaching that level.  If you don’t remember then you will have to take a look at the inns throughout Skyrim.  Don’t forget the smaller towns. A Night to Remember is one of Skyrim’s Daedric quests.

He will challenge you to a drinking contest.  Take him up on it and you will win on the third drink – then the screen will go black.

You will wake up in Markarth, at the temple of Dibella with no memory of the previous night.

Now either go to Rorikstead or Whiterun.  In Rorikstead you can track down the farmer from whom you stole the goat.  In Whiterun you can talk to Ysolda to learn that you owe her for a wedding ring.  If you first track down the goat, you will get the clue to then go to Whiterun.  So the fastest way to complete A Night to Remember is to skip that part, but since you get to face down a giant by going after the goat, it is definitely worth the effort, if only for the laughs.

Eventually Ysolda will tell you to go to Morvunskar.  Be careful in Morvunskar.  It is overrun by mages, and this can be difficult if you aren’t prepared or don’t have decent magic resistance.

Search Morvunskar until you find the entrance to Misty Grove.

Once in the grove talk to Sam Guevenne who turns out to be the Daedric Prince Sanguine.  Talk to him to complete the quest and get his staff Sanguine.
