Skyrim: Bloated Man’s Grotto

December 23, 2014 - Skyrim / Video Games

If you have activated the quest Ill Met by Moonlight, then you will find a group of wounded hunters as you enter.  They will warn you about a difficult upcoming fight.  There is pond near the camp with a chest at the bottom.  You may also find Nordic Barnacles in the pond if you are into alchemy.

If you have not activated the quest Ill Met by Moonlight, then Bloated Man’s Grotto will be filled with Spriggans and animals for you to fight.  All of the chests remain in the same locations.  It is possible that you will get a quest to find an item here, but don’t worry.  The items will be there whether you start Ill Met by Moonlight before or after triggering whatever side quest sends you here as well.

If you came to Bloated Man’s Grotto to complete Ill Met by Moonlight, then follow the path through the grotto and Sindig, now in werewolf form, will taunt you.  You now have two options, either threaten to kill him or offer to protect him from the other hunters.  Both options are okay because you can always just kill him later if you want.  Along the path you will find another chest and several other hunters trying to kill the werewolf.

Sindig will easily kill the other hunters if you are playing on a higher difficulty, making the option to protect Sindig look pretty nice if you are playing on Legendary difficulty and don’t like dying.  On the other hand, if you are careful you can kill Sindig and get the traditional finish as well.
