Skyrim: Hardcore Mode

December 29, 2014 - Skyrim / Video Games

Hardcore Mode is not included in the standard Skyrim package, but it can be a fun way to play once you have already defeated as much of the game as you want to explore.

In essence, here is how you do it:  Set the game difficulty as high as you can handle, and then give yourself just one life.

Simple.

If you want to remove the temptation to reload I suggest disabling all of the autosave features.  This will ensure that at best you can only go back to the end of you last play session, but if you set the difficulty high enough then even that luxury won’t present itself often.

Playing on Legendary difficulty is, of course, the most challenging, but it can also be fun to just explore different play styles just to try different effects.  For example, skip the quests and stick to town, playing out a thief.

Whatever you decide this is a challenging option sure to bring you some tense moments and to bring your game to a whole new level.
